Mustang 1 generation down from the current production model I dont know what year the ones with either vertical or horizontal break lights.
Redw/ White racing stripes and White rims
First- I did not know if it was a race... he jumped it when lights turned greeen and i stepped on it caught up to him to about midway through 2nd gear his fron bumper on my rear door then I slow down and so does he... few seconds later he speed past me then slows down to wait for the light to turn yellow
Second- I kinda knew it was on so i just sat there waiting for the green(gf told me to stop it already but hello?? couldnt resist)
Light turns green...3.1... not much spin hehe so it was an alright launch... i was a ahead all the way, I was reving high on 2nd gear (few rpms below redline) and thought i would let go of the gas a bit just to let it into third and punch it again( didnt want too much stress on the engine - probably a .5 sec lag doing the whole proccess) i was in third for about 3 seconds then we let off.
His fron bumper was on my rear bumper.
I dont have too much confidence having the 3.1 but was there something wrong with his car? I would think he would have won by just a little. Definitely a V6 I had no doubt.
I lost to a mustang just like that (not rice though plain white) 80mph-105mph-limiter .

You're talking about the 94-99 Mustang. Probably an auto V6 model. 150 horsepower 3.8. :fruity:

Yep. I've taken down like 3 three of those now. They're not impressive at all.

My buddy used to have one (we called it the pus-tang, or more affectionately known as the poon-tang) He swapped GT wheels onto it. It would only peel out in reverse. Seriously, in drive it would just go, no squeel, no nothing. I waxed his ass a few times w/ my 3.1.

It's not that it's wrong...............it's just that a well driven 5 speed 94-98 WILL beat a 3.1 MFI OR 3100 SFI W-Body.
The only one's you can pick on are autos and manuals driven by Baboons.
And don't even start on 99+ 3.8's.............they ARE pretty fast.
Oh..........I HATE Mustangs.........they are the enemy

Are they a match for the LQ1 powered W's?

An LQ1 should have no real problems with a 94-98 V6 Stang, and will probably be able to beat a 99+ auto...............any 99+ manual with somebody reasonably skilled at the helm will get you out of the hole and *slowly* walk away from there. It's close enough that it's certainly a drivers race though.............you may be able to beat one, but the CAR is a little faster.

All the 99+ 3.8's I've seen are still slow as shit. I absolutely killed a 99+ 5spd one in my 89 Volvo 740 a while back. I bet the guy was embarrased as hell.

Hmmm.....slow as shit huh?
Look at this webpage: http://www.geocities.com/jmaxnakron/Melissa_V6_Mustang
And tell me how it is that he got 15.3XX BONE stock (OK....a K&N...he has 1.3 extra hp :P ) with a crappy for a RWD car 60ft time? And I know of plenty other 99+ 3.8L 5 speeds that are just as fast.
Hell............my only encounter (with a 99+) was an auto (driving my old SE-R), and from 40-70mph he only dropped back around 1 car length.............and 40mph is a BAD spot to catch those autos at (bottom of 2nd gear).

Well, the ones I've personally seen run the 1/4(even w/ decent drivers) are slow around here, I've seen a low 16 out of one at best and it had aftermarket exhaust and probably some more things...track is @ 1100ft above sea level..but doesn't make THAT much of a difference. Anyways, my Volvo 740 is the turbo/intercooled sedan, I have an intake and boost controller as mods....the 740 will stay within a length of my TGP(ran 14.7 in it at the time I raced the 740, I was running ~100octane in the Volvo then) in a 0-100mph race.
EDIT: BTW, the Volvo(auto) has 3.73's and a LSD(Dana PowerLock) from the factory. :D

It's just a generic "grainger valve" type controller, I played with it until I got it to where I wanted it(14psi...my stock boost cutout switch is disabled..it only allows 13psi).

i'm using a grainger valve boost controller on my GTS. i don't have a boost gauge yet, but i turned it up in 1/2 turn increments until i hit fuel cut, then turned it 1/2 turn back so i don't hit fuel cut anymore. i'm not sure at the moment what the boost-cut level is on the stock SMEC computer...i'm not really sure even what PSI i'm at right now but i'm taking an 'eductated guess' at 12psi  i really need a gauge.

realllllyyyy makes a difference on wether the 99+ v6 is a 5 spd or not......i dare say the top end of that engine is worse then a 3100(having driven both----the 3.8 is an auto) and yes i know what the numbers say, but i have seen those cars in action, and without a 5 spd the new 3.8 is comparable to a 3100. But, seeing as how most v6 mustangs are autos, most often it will be a mute point.

So maybe all these V6 Mustangs you guys claim to be beating are driven by idiots...........most around here are driven by frat boys and people of that nature.......not to start a fight here or anything (I wouldn't want to be thrown in jail)......but has that thought ever crossed your minds?
horizontal lights are '94-95 and the vertical ones are '96-98.
i personally LOVE Mustangs. i am also a believer that no Mustang or F-body car has nothing less than a V8 in it.
so...in my reality, you wouldnt have one because a GT wouldve spanked you....regardless, nice win.

Not trying to start shit, but Bigbuls, this is where people have a problem. You just picked ONE car from the hundreds of thousands made. dbtk2's 4 door TGP is faster than my 2 door, and that's stock (him) vs. my chipped/filter car. Anything is possible, you just seem like since you raced one, once, and you have 1 car online to show as an example, that they are ALL that fast. Man, you would have a FIELD-DAY going back and looking at MY posts in this area. Please, go critique them. I'm not being a smartass, but since I can vouch for NOBODY but me on this board, I want to see what you think about my kills so far. Shouldn't have to look to hard, there was I think 7 of them in the last 1200 miles (last July that is. )

Look...........modern vehicles really don't vary THAT much. So if one or two examples of a certain model run XX.XXX at the dragstrip, other examples of said model are going to be pretty close. Sure.............a bad driver can make a large difference..........especially on manuals and on automatics that have a) traction issues, or b) very peaky powerbands. But even then, it's pretty hard to mess up a run enough to get beaten by a CAR that is 1-2 seconds slower than you..........no matter HOW good of a driver it is.
Once you get down to it, even a half second difference in the 1/4 is pretty telling (4+ car lengths).
As for YOUR car being used as an exapmle of "it's slower than so and so's car".............now we have extra variables thrown in. You have a more than one decade old forced induction car. Do you have a boost leak somehwere perhaps, a cranky tranny (it IS an auto), maybe an IC pipe that is dented or..........whatever. By nature turbo cars ARE going to vary a little more. You see?
Also, just because I only listed ONE webpage and ONE of my own encounters does NOT mean that is ALL the proof/documentation that I posess..........it just happens to be what I use. Seriously..............go look around and see what decent drivers have run with 99+ V6 Stangs.......I've heard of guys cracking 14.9XX at really nicely prepped dragstrips. I just used that 15.3 example because he HAS a webpage, and it's more "average" of a time (again....look at his 60ft's).
