So I was going like 90 down the freeway when this kid in this gay ass 3000GT with fartcans and red dragons on the side starts reving his engine at me. So i fucking punch it and hit 110 as he is like 4 car lengths behind. Then he did a ricer fly by and almost crashed into a mini van.

Even if you have a 3800, a decent 3000 GT should probably own a Regal sedan. I'm sure a base one probably wouldn't..

my money is on the regal fo sho yo!

I've heard a 3.4 DOHC could take a non-turbo 3000GT

and remember folks...96 Regals came with a 205hp series II 3800...packin 230lb ft of torque

Don't the "base" model 3KGT's and the SL's(base w/ a few more options as far as I know) have the same engine in them? I believe it's a 3.0 w/ 218-222hp depending on year, it's also a 24v DOHC motor...if the 96 Regal above has a 3800 in it, I would imagine that it would get walked on the highway at those speeds by a 3KGT in decent shape since the 3800 isn't exactly known for it's great highway power.

they have about 222hp with around 3200lbs of fat. The engine is pretty much the same powerband as the LQ1.

I do believe the non-turbo's are a SOHC motor - same lower half (6G72) that the VR4's have, they are awesome, but those cars are freekin' heavy!

There are both SOHC and DOHC NA 3000GT's. The Base's got the 163hp SOHC engine, and are pretty slow (like, barely faster than an L82), and the SL's got the 218-222hp DOHC............they run mid 15's if manual, and low 16's if auto. The manuals (DOHC's) WILL go 140+ mph though.

And we won't even talk about the 300-320hp TT's :D

I raced a base 3000GT in the GTP before, killed it! 2 weeks later I raced a 3000GT Twin Turbo AWD.....I was owned within seconds! You would have thought that my GTP was a OHV 4 banger!

Maybe an automatic trannied 3S with the SOHC (a low 17 second car IIRC), but not a manual............they run lower 16's (161-164hp and 185lb/ft with only 3200lbs).........that IS faster than an L82.

That thing looks an awful lot like an 3.4 TDOHC. Ooh, it has one of those "710" caps too.

nice eye catching the 710 cap, it was one of the first mods...

this isn't the finished look (just before the accident) but it's fairly close...
