Need info on Camaros with the LO3 305 V8

My friend has an '89 camaro RS. Doing some research I've found that it has the LO3 V8 which is only rated at 170hp. He insists that no L67 can beat him. Seeing that the L67 is rated at 240hp, i think he is just lying to himself.

Now, my 3100 is at about 160hp right? So how much of a chance would I have? I think he will probably beat me, but I was just curious, it would be so sweet to put him and his V8 that he likes to brag so much about to shame.

I don't know the RPO codes, but most of the 305's are pretty wimpy. The 305TPI, I've heard is pretty formidable, especially when paired with the 5-speed manual, so if it's that one, be careful. If it's the TBI, you can take it.
