Tired 3.1?

Hi all,

I have a 1991 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with the 3.1. I am having a few small problems with engine. When accelertaing at times it seems to hesitate/miss while accelertating and then its fine after i even out the speed, it feels as if i were pumping the gas pedal slightly however I am not. Also, in reverse only the idle is a bit unstable, it never stalls but sometimes sounds like it wants to. I bought the car in August with 59,000 miles and the owener said it just got new plugs, could the plugs be bad/incorrect? would this cause these symptoms?

Check your plug wires. Mine was doing the same thing and new wires fixed my problem,

Thanks for the reply, i will check that out as soon as possible, I am guessing the orginal wires are still on there.

Yeah it might be the wires, or the IGN module/coil(s). If changing the wires doesn't work, go tot he junkyard and buy another modulewith coils say from a 3100, swap the the rear mouning plate and install.

Changed the wires and plugs today and problem is gone. Thanks for the help getting my Cutlass running like a champ again.
