I was driving back from work and I'm on a 3 lane street, then splits to a four way, so, I see a Ford F series truck, probably a 1998 or newer with a Triton V8, and he pullin on me and I'm like "screw that noise!", so I speed up and he keeps up. So we get to the light and I figure he'd want to race or get in front of me. We it turns green I give it half throttle and punch it once he's kept up with me (for the first 2 seconds after it turns green) and I smoked the foo in his truck. So much for that V8 power, backed by a transmission geared for towing... :P

How much HP do those Triton V8s , I think I seen something say like 260hp and 350ft/lb of torque or something.

those old soch 2 valve tritions are weak as hell

the 4.6 liter trition in my mom's old '99 econoline van made 220 horsepower
they make no power, the throttle response is poor, and they suck gas

i don't know about the new 3 valve titions though

yea the # you posted is right....ive been in a 5.4 triton(new), and it doesnt pull any harder then my 3100 does, and the old f series i beat on pretty easy and ive also seen some rather embarassing things happen to them too lol

my dad drags V-10 F series trucks, and almost always win

he's got a 2003 Silverado 2500 HD, with a 6 liter V-8

pretty sad a V-8 pulls harder than a V-10

 Somone finally replies to my post! 8)

It always seems that Ford is a step behind in performace. A Camaro will beat a Mustang any day. Any (stock) W-body could beat a Taurus(except maybe the 2.8 ), with the SHO an exception. I think the 3800 V6s will at least keep up or beat an SHO though, I could be wrong. And the thing is, Ford seems much more expensive for a comparable, spec-wise, GM vehicle. Take the Taurus for example, their MSRP on a '04 SEL is about $24,400. A base model '04 Grand Prix is about $22,835 and it has more power. The grand prix is better, hands down. So I say  on Ford.

a Ford Taurus SHO is not as impressive as you make it out to be. The 3.4L LQ1 with a minor mod or two will easily keep up with and/or beat a SHO.

i beg your pardon. you're gonna have a do a decent amount of modding to beat a stock SHO dude. That yamaha pulls like a motherfucker. I know my dad owns one and I've never lost a race driving it. 3-0!

These are the stock numbers for the 1991's from Road & Track:
0 to 60 mph: 6.6 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.2 seconds @ 92.5 mph
