I care very little about what it looks like but I've got a few rattlecans of duplicolor to take care of the hood and fender - also have the white fender flare to go on when I figure out where exactly to put the studs to mount it.
it's an original 3100 car with 255,000 km on it. it slaps like mad when it's cold but it doesn't really leak anywhere and runs decently enough....hard to start sometimes unless i give it gas. i don't feel like spending money on an iac so i live with it :D
it needs front end work in the next couple of weeks, after which point i'll be able to work on putting a new motor in it. do not yet know what i will be getting, 3.1 or 3.4, but i'll do the intake gaskets while it's sitting on a stand before i put it in the car.
it is what it is...a daily driver that i bought to keep the mileage off of its big brother (parked behind it in the driveway). good reliable car that is as slow as shit but fun to rev the piss out of.

That white GP just needs some love - white's my favorite color GP :(

That GP is actually quite decent save for what tiny bit of rust I can see. And FYI- You probably don't even need a new IAC, just take it off and clean it with throttle body cleaner

And I'd take that 96 way before I'd take whatever the hell is behind it! (Grand Marquis? Caprice?)

the IAC is very clean, that was my first thought. It's either defective or I have a big vacuum leak somewhere. I'm just waiting for the intake gaskets to start leaking.
The car behind it is my baby, '90 LTD Crown Vic. I like RWD full frame V8s.

Doesn't look to bad. Spray bomb the hood and fender, and put the cladding back on and away you go.

I gotta get it done before winter hits real bad. It's cold lately but not too cold hopefully.
The damn spaceman door handle drive me nuts! Crazy sideways things that I'm sure you guys are all familiar with. Dunno if it's just loose or needs replacing.

...spaceman door handle...
LOL
When I had my 1990 SE my hand would always smack into the door where the handle should be.
White is definitely a good color for GPs, same as mine was.

I should say that I call it a POS but I say it with affection. It's a pretty good little car. A little underpowered and it's a victim of 90s American interior quality but it's been good to me.

Get used to opening your passenger door for people. Even when it's not dark out, people just kind of walk up and grab at the air/smack the car. I've grown to love it, though I wish the handles were a bit more rugged.

Oh man that's always a trip! People either grab at the air, sit there looking for the door handle or ask if the handles are shaved and the doors are automatic.
Nice car, white is my fave GP color too right next to blue.
Leave it like it is, call it the candycane!

When I seen my first Grand Prix like this, those door handles were one of the coolest things about the car.
I remember when I had to give my dad a ride to get his car from the shop, he couldn't figure out where the handle was at first. LOL
Oh..and I always get confused when I try to get in cars with normal handles now. I want to grab near the window, not under it!

I can't recall how many times I've had people ask me how do open your car door.
I still grab towards the traditional spot of opening the door. I don't drive my w-bodies enough.

Embrace the ugly! It gives the car character! I second the idea of calling it the candycane. Not sure if anyone here is familiar with a canadian show called The Trailer Park Boys, but one of the characters drives a car known as "The Shitmobile". Car is ugly as sin - used to be green, but he painted it black with a roller. LOL

lol I've met most of the cast of TPB, they film it in my province. When I met Randy and Lahey, I got Randy to sign my gut.

I'll just paint the spoiler red so it sort of matches :D

Hahaha! Hell yeah man, I almost drove up to Canada to get to see Countdown To Liquor Day in theatres lol. They finally came to St. Louis and did a live show this year - was fecking hilarious, things sorta got out of a control a few times, but it was a good night. The boys asked for money for smokes - before you could blink the stage was raining quarters and smokes.
Oh yeah, forgot:

been tinkering with the shitmobile since last posting in this thread. it's been a good daily driver but is not without its faults, though the only serious $$ i've had to spend on it has been in the form of replacing worn out suspension and steering components.
new stuff since I got it
- IAC
- TPS
- water pump
- serpentine belt
- automatic tensioner
- plugs
- EGR pipe
- ATF fluid/filter change (and regular oil changes, but that kinda goes without saying..)
- outer tie rod ends
- inner tie rods
- front strut cartridges, top mounts, spring seat/bearings (entire assemblies not available and I was strapped for cash so I didn't get new springs)
- rear struts (replaced whole assemblies)
- rear monoleaf spring
- turned the rear rotors down last week because the brakes were dragging so i took everything apart, got rid of the rust and lubed the shit out of it all.
They're not leaking now but I intend to replace the lower intake manifold gaskets before they become a problem. Gonna replace the lifters when I'm in there as well, one of them is noisy as all fucking hell and has consistently gotten louder since I bought it. I was pondering a motor swap but I can get away for hundreds of dollars less by just replacing lifters and gaskets, then I've got a motor that I know is in good condition and will last another couple of years.
Flex pipe is leaking but that's not a big deal to fix
You know, this car isn't half bad. It handles pretty damn well for an American car designed in the late 80s, though in my opinion it's a bit underpowered. Should have come with a 3.8 from the factory like the later ones did imo.
Since I've learned to weld, fixing the rust on the fender shouldn't be that difficult, just slightly time consuming. When I've got my Ford back on the road in the summer time I will put the Pontiac to sleep for a few days to get the body fixed up and painted a solid color.
