I think they're kind of cool...I was thinking of maybe getting the Field Compass one day...it's $160...

Yeah, they're pretty cool, but I think I'd rather have a factory HUD unit because it displays more, like turn signals and low fuel.
The Field Compass is cool too, but I already have a factory compass mirror out of an Intrigue in my Cutty. The display matches perfectly, and it has LED map lights.
BTW, the Field Compass is no longer being made, according to that site!

Yeah, they're pretty cool, and strange too!
I guess it was designed before white LEDs were practical, because it uses 3 blue LEDs and 6 amber LEDs per map light. The two different colors of LEDs mixes together into white light.
It's not as bright as my old Donnelly lighted compass mirror, but it's much more cool. The Donnelly had a green compass that didn't match and the Intrigue one (made by Gentex) matches perfectly, so it looks much more factory now.

How hard are these to install and how well do they work? Are these products universal?

Aparently they are EXTREMELY easy to install, and YES they are universal...

I believe the Field Compass just plugs into your cigarette lighter socket?

can "HUD" be put on a base model Lumina 3.1??? And if so how high would the cost be? Later Jay
