most of this info comes from 60V6.
introduced in 1993 in very late Cutlass Supremes. 3100 is a Generation 3 60V6.
Speed-Density fueling until 1996 in W-bodies.
all 3100s have roller lifters. 1996 and later have roller rockers as well. late 1995 head castings have the necessary notches for the roller rockers, but still used the non-roller setup.
all 3100s use SFI.
D shaped exhaust ports for increased flow.
forged connecting rods, cast crank, hypertruetic pistons.
windage tray in oil pan.
all L82 engines are rated for 160HP(5200)/185TQ(4000) and have 9.6:1 compression.
priority main oiling.
95 can have roller rockers as well.
I have appx production info somewhere on that I believe.

never heard of the 95 heads actually getting the rollers, but i suppose it is possible. i imagine it would only be the latest of the 95 cars that got them though.
Per GM TSB 57-61-35 December 1995
Appx 4000 1995 A/N cars were built with roller rockers. All other 1995 3100 V6 engines were built with the conventional ball and pivot type rocker arms. For 1996 the 3100 V6 engine can be manufactured with either roller rocker arms or ball and pivot type rocker arms.

so no W's with rollers in 1995...
and apparently 1996 was a crapshoot year as well...
Also, since 1996 the L82 engines used coated number 5 and 6 pistons to reduce piston scuffing. And GM now has and recommends the polymer coated pistons to be installed on all 6 cylinders any time pistons are being replaced.

Nope.. No 1995 with rollers, from the factory though!!
If someone finds one with rollers, it wasnt there from the factory. Either the engine had been replaced, or the heads were replaced and rollers added. My first experience with these engines was at a machine shop that rebuilt engines. They always upgraded to the roller rockers when the installed or redid the heads.
So just and FYI for everyone.
In 2000, they were boosted to 175 HP if I am not mistaken... Check the specs of a GPSE after 2000

What is a windage tray?
it keeps the oil from sloshing around, during hard launches, stops and cornering, that would otherwise allow the crank to touch the oil and throw it around and cause it to aerate. THEN you're fucked. because air doesn't lubricate for shit.

true, but at that point, it's no longer a L82, it would be a LG8. there were also quite a few minor changes as well...

Thats good to know and makes me very glad I got a 2000 instead of a 1999 or older. I like my 15 more HP. I think it does make a difference.
Do you know if there is any cold air intakes / Ram air... ect. That are available as a kit for the 3100. I have been toying around with the idea of custom making one myself, but im just kind of unsure.

Nope, but a custom intake is easy to do..
