the 4t60 uses both a TV cable and a vacuum modulator: the TV cable determines shift points and the vacuum modulator determines the shift feel. an adjustable modulator meant for a TH-350 will work perfectly here. the TV cable is adjustable as well, though working in large steps is a bad idea.
to reset the cable to it's intended position, there is a bracket bolted to the back of the motor. in the center of the bracket, there is a plastic piece with a flat, square tab that sits flush with the side that points upward. it's got enough pressure to it to require me to use a screwdriver to depress it far enough to allow reseting the cable. when it's depressed, you will have to push the little "cone" surrounding the cable inwards to allow the cable to reset. when it is pushed far enough in, get in the car and slowly push the throttle to the floor. once you get most of the way down, you should feel more resistance and then you will hear a ratcheting noise. that noise is the TV cable reseting.
when the throttle is all the way down, release it and go back under the hood and look at the cable, it should have more tension on it now than it did. if not, the cable didn't need adjustment.
if the shift points feel too late, you can make a shim and then reset the cable, then before applying the throttle, inset the shim where indicated, then apply full throttle. if you can't/don't want to make a shim, you WILL need a second person or very manueverable hands. you will have to reset the cable, have the second person step on the throttle, then pull on the TV cable while still at WOT until you feel/hear clicks. move 1 or 2 at a time. keep in mind you will need to reset the cable every time you want to adjust it due to the mechanism not allowing adjustment unless it's during the first WOT sequence.

not going to edit since this post deserves it's own: REMOVE THE SHIM WHEN FINISHED! YOU DON'T WANT THAT SHIT POSSIBLY BOUNCING AROUND AND THEN GETTING STUCK SOMEWHERE YOU DON'T WANT, LIKE KEEPING THE THROTTLE HELD OPEN!

Does anyone know the final drive ratios of other engines that were bolted to this trans?

i have everything from 85-90, but after that, i would need RPOs...
EDIT: i could check compnine, but i would need a list of what engine and year the car would need to be to have it...

just checked it:
91-92 regal 3.1 was 3.33
91-92 regal 3.8 was 3.06
after 92, it was 4t60-e...
anything else? i'm confident all 3.1s got the same gears and nothing else got the 3.8 until Gen2...
