yeah Jeff.
I redesigned the mounts a tad, made them a little more compatible w/ the different trunk lid hinge styles on the w's.
you need a bar that is 37.5 inches long and then you need 1/2" holes 36" on center.
w/ a 37.5" bar, just drill in 3/4" from the end, and the holes will be on 36" centers.

Nick, the bar will look like the one that Terry posted, but just w/o paint.
Jay, you'll have the mounts and bar, everyone will just need to get about $3 worth of hardware to tie it all together....takes about 10 minutes if you take your time.
I'll wait till next friday to see if any other orders come in, and then I'll close the Group Buy.
I'll PM everyone in the next few days w/ where to send the payment.

Is it powdercoated or will it need paint?
I am assuming that it will not interfere with the trunk hinge/operation?

ok so i got the bar.. but what hardware will i need?
for the mount to bar holes, you'll need (2) 1/2-13 bolts that are 2" long.....and (2) 1-2/13 nuts to go w/ them. Then for teh mounts to strut tower, you need (4) M10x1.5 nuts....these work fine w/ teh stock strut tower bolts
its about $2-3 in hardware....depending on where you go.
i'm gettin them raw, so i'm going to weld them together

i'd at least bolt the mounts and bar together in the car. .....take it out, and tack-weld it....then take the bolts out and then weld it solid...that way the length is just right.

Good work on the machining. The edges are smooth and the holes in the bar are countersunk. It's great when people do things the right way. http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/Smileys/cafcna/yourock.gif

Anyone know a good place to buy grade 8 bolts/hardware?
Also, is the bar designed to mount on top or underneath the strut tower mount pieces?
don't waste your cash on Grade 8, you'd spend unnecessary cash.

no need for grade 8....there isn't that much force on them.....at least I hope not...LOL
I put the bar on top of the mounts....
again 1/2-13 bolts and nuts for the mount to bar holes and M10x1.5 nuts for the Strut tower bolts.

Well, first I went to Home Depot, but the zinc covered looked like sh*t (would have cost about $3). So I went to Ace hardware for stainless, but that would have been ~$21
I also looked up the bolt ratings and the table suggested using grade 5 or 8 for automotive apps. I've seen plenty of cars that had problems because a cheap part broke. So I'll probably go with 5 or 8 depending on the price, but anything should be cheaper than the stainless.

Ok, back from the hardware store. Got the Grade 8 bolts and washers for $7 (the grade 5 was about $5). Going to paint tomorrow if the weather is good.

I thought there was an issue with the top of the strut mounting not strong enough to support coilovers. Is that true, or BS?
