View Full Version : found my vaccuum leak... (help, too)

so, this is what the end of this vaccuum line looks like:

So, what does it go to, what do I need to do to fix it? It was loose for a while, but it never gave me any problems, i assume until it melted :lol: it had a pcv i think on the other end, but it wasnt connected to anything. help me? oh, and once this part gets figured out, would that hurt gas milage?

You should post up a pic of the part we pulled out at the meet. Might give a better idea as to what's going on. It's been a while since I've worked on a 3.4 car, so I couldn't remember where everything went :redface:.

yes, that is the part that I pulled up at the meet, it has since melted off the rest :redface:

anyone have vaccuum diagrams or anything like that? i checked out 60*, but nothing like that

hmmm, that may help, are the black and white ones from the TB vaccuum lines? assuming the white one is larger, that's what im looking at i think

well, I made a block off for now, at least so its not an open leak. now just to find out where it goes and fix it right

On my 1991 GP/SE/LQ1 there is a PCV-valve connected to the hose at your finger. I guess your´s missing?
The plastic line goes around the engine on the back to the "front end" of lower intake manifold..

looks like the piece that goes around the back, T's, then goes to both valve covers

That diagram is not right.

The purple line should switch location with the blue line at left side.

Think about it, why should the PCV-valve be connected to a valve-cover? The PCV-valve is never going to work connected to a valve-cover, it has to be connected to a manifold vacuum source....

huh? that diagram is correct.

I think you're misunderstanding that diagram. The blue line goes into the valley of the enigine, not into the intake manifold.

isnt' there a vaccuum diagram under that hood? or is it gone. that one is more specific to your year.

99regalgs, i stand corrected.

On my 1991 GP/SE the PCV line is routed to the front center crankcase (purple), and the ventilation line goes to the valve covers (blue).

May not be a big deal if it´s set up like this diagram either?

Purple one is to the PCV valve, wich is correct...I took that plastic crap out and ran some, iirc 3/8, hose. Blue line is connected to the fuel pressure reg/ Mapp? (i think thats what it is) so...i dont think it should be switched...

thats so funny, I had the same EXACT thing happen to me in my 94 cutty vert 3.4
the line is either to the charcoal canister or the nipple just under the the top PCV line thats on the TB. I just cut them and added some vac hose, rerouted them to keep them away from the EGR pipe (which melted them) and VIOLA, like new. The left side lines go to the TB left rear bolt on canister purge valve.

OH YA GUYZ, while taking off the 3.4 cover, directly in front of the middle fuel injector the is a hole which looks like a bolt might go but i see NO traces of scuffing or tourque. Any ideas what it is? I looked down and did not see any threads..... AGAIN, front middle injector just in front of it, directly under fuel rail, ON intake manifold. Thanks, Mark

I think that is just some kind of guide or something, i slightly recall what youre talking about and wondered the same thing

Yeah, its a guide to guide the intake manifold in when replacing the gaskets.
