i really need to rotate my tires first. the fronts are getting bald quick. imagine that :lol: depending on the road surface traction in 2nd gear is almost non-existant.

Not trying to rain on anyones parade or anything. But there is no way that guy had any clue as to what he was doing in that GTO. My brother owns an 05 which I have personally driven, and beaten low 13 second cars. So like I said, no offense, but that guy had to have no clue as to how to drive that car.

well, Most GTPs run mid 14s, i dont see why with all his mods he wouldnt be in the 13s

Stock GTP's put down ~195whp and run low-mid 14's. 240whp in a GTP should get mid 13's.

However, I will agree there is something wrong with that GTO, or the guy can't drive, or something. I guess considering that the GTP could be a 13.5 car that it could've been close if the guy doesn't know how to shift. I ran a 5.7 GTO from a 20mph roll in the STE and pulled two carlengths on him by 80, but my STE is probably just as quick as his GTP, AND the LS2 GTO's are WAYYYY quicker. They are low 13 second cars stock and his GTP is not that quick with those mods. I wouldn't mind lining up next to a stock or mildly modded LS2 GTO in my dads GTP though...would be fun.

But then the fact that the GTP had 3 passengers in it, while the GTO only had one, makes it hard to believe a GTP would thrash on it. Where did this happen at anyways?

Not sure why the GTO would have a harder time launching??? RWD is much better for launching...my T/A would smoke the shit out of my STE from a stop to like 20mph any day of the week, RWD is WAY better. If the guy can't drive, then it is believable that the GTP could keep up for as long as it did even with the people in it. Had they raced for a little longer, I belive the GTO would've started pulling on the GTP, and probably pretty hard.

The reason I mentioned the traction issues in the GTO is all I can remember when I drove my brothers is taking the traction control off and launching from about 3800 rpm....the car was all over the place lol! But I am sure with the TCS on and a more mellow launch, the car would get rolling pretty damn quick.

Thats because you launched at 3800rpm. :shock: If you launch at 3800rpm in a GTP you sure as shit wouldn't be going anywhere. My dads GTP only puts down ~375wtq. and it will smoke the tires off from a 50+mph roll. A GTO making that kind of torque MIGHT smoke the tires from a 20mph roll (I'm talking about just laying into it, no revving then dumping the clutch or anything like that). FWD just isn't a good setup for launching.

Oh, rwdcan hoock better because of weight transfer. On a rwd car when you nail the gas, the rear plants giving better traction. On a fwd vehical, the rearend lowers taking valuable weight off of the front tires. Stiff rear springs/schocks would help to stop this problem, or Having no rear suspension at all would too. :lol:

LS2 is NA, that L67 is supercharged... Helps at that altitude...as far as launching goes...IRS is a BITCH in those cars...launching is very difficult, untill you get to know them very well.

Around here, Dan would have gotton stomped very quickly. I mean, were talking about a car that puts 100+ more whp.

yeah i'd be questionable about that.. his mods w/ perfect launching will get him a high 13 and the fact that his car is stock cam/rockers means its pretty boggy up top, i got 1.9's in my 02 but the fuggin maf in the pcm is wierd so i cut out around 100 (my 13.7 run i cut out right before the finish)

Thats what i thought, a high 13 sounds about right, and I know a 05 GTO should be able to handle that, especially with the GTP having 3 peeps in the car, and the GTO only having one.
