I'm very happy, as I'm the proud new owner of a 1992 Red GTP 5 speed- loaded to the max with charcoal leather quad buckets... it needs a clutch... but here it is for $400... I'm probably going to keep it intact, but not sure...

here she is, a tad dirty, but still nice..

Not bad at all! Needs a good cleaning, but otherwise the interior looks to be in good shape.

How many miles are on it?

Its got 130-something thousand on it... same as the petty. I really like it!!! I didnt show the rear becuase its got a big ugly paint flake on the rear b4u. I'm not sure if the CD player is facotory or not- can anyone tell from the pics if it is? It sticks out a bit, but looks like the original decks.

Have you seen the foglight mod (http://www.wbodysource.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=24&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0) over on wbodysource.com? (http://www.wbodysource.com/index.php)

I did this mod to my GP before I traded it. It did make a huge difference in the lighting. Probably not enough to overcome the shitty mini-quads, but any improvement on these cars is a bonus...

Just out of curiosity, Is that the CD player that I could install into my TGP and still use radio controls? I saw one just like that a few months ago at a j/y and always wondered if I should have taken it.. :?

Very nice Ross.. looks to be in good overall condition. Clean it up and you'll be cruisin in style.

very nice Ross...fix that bitch up and pass it around to all the NY peeps on here!

White93z34
03-27-2005, 01:06 AM
so you live in NYC and got a stick shift car.... are you a glutton for punishment :P

naw have fun with it, get the clutch fixed and sell it of you want to fix the 92 SE, the money you could make selling that could pay for a engine for the 92'

but i'd be all too tempted to hang on to it myself, 284 cars don't exactly grow on trees, and i'd feel real bad dismantleing a stick shift GTP for the engine alone.

Ross -- DO NOT PART THAT THING OUT... sell the RPE and use the cash to buy a clutch. You clean that thing up and it would be beautiful man... my ass wants those fucking seats!!!!!

I don't think he's serious about taking YOUR seats.. Everyone just likes those soft, plump, seats.
I can't believe your even considering parting it out. You could fix that car for less than you could fix the petty for.

03-27-2005, 12:37 PM
why don't you put the engine from the 95 into the petty...then fix the clutch on the GTP... :) ...that is deffinatly too nice to be parting out... :bash:

The last I heard you were parting it out, but now that I see it, it's too fucking nice to part out man!

If you DO part it out, then yes, I want the seats, but I wouldn't part it if I was you, I'd honestly drop the Petty before that.

i will kill you if you parted that car out, the petty isn't worth THAT much....

but those seats would bolt right into my car....

Why is everyone so obsessed over a mass produced 13 year old car? Who cares? Its old, and I bought it for parts. Its not like its some ultra rare car or anything. You people dont flame at people who are parting out TGP's... grow up, WHO CARES???

LukeZ34

So if it doesn't matter, than why are you holding on to your beloved Petty Edition? It's not like they are worth anymore, it's just a name badge.

Its in MUCH better shape, and I like it more. My goal is to fix it, and if i need to take the engine out of the beat up GTP, so be it.

dsgrntld187
03-27-2005, 03:39 PM
Much better shape? Your GTP needs a clutch, your Petty needs a new engine. Sure, maybe theres a dent and some missing paint on the rear of the GTP, but it still runs and is closer to driving than your Petty is.

WHO CARES???? Stop whining! OMG, someone is parting out a 13 year old car! Get a grip...

LukeZ34
03-27-2005, 03:53 PM
Chill out.. People are upset because it's an enthusiast community here and it's something they would probably kill to have/fix up.
You've obviously made up your mind, so good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy driving the Petty again once it's running. :)

dsgrntld187

I dunno, if it was me I'd fix the car closer to running, but maybe that's because I'm 16 and need a running car instead of a project car.

Take it,,, TAKE IT!! Man if I was closer, I would be all over that GTP. Rip out the DOHC boat anchor and drop in a 3.8 S2 SC in it. that sounds like fun to me..

P.S. - I will buy that CD Player, if it is working, for a very reasonable amount. Let me know..

I do. I flame everyone I see here that parts out a car with a perfectly good body. I just don't say anything here. I show a pic of the car to my wife and we do this :gone2far: and talk about how damn wasteful Americans are and no wonder the rest of the world hates us.

Nothing personal though, that's just how Americans are. We say the same thing when we go to a buffet restaurant and see people leaving half a plate of food uneaten.

honestly, i would sell the 95 and put a clutch in the GTP. Keep the petty around for some fixing later........maybe a SC3800 project or something, make petty proud! KEEP THE GTP IN TACT, yas, the prix is a mass produced car, but the GTP WITH the 5SPEED was not. It doesnt bother me that you would part out this car as much as it does when i see people parting out and junking TGPs, that pisses me off but whatever floats your boat. Get rid of the 95, hold onto the petty, and fix the GTP and drive it.
