Yep, finally replaced the Cutty.

I got 97 GTP coupe with 96,000 on the clock. Power everything, sunroof, and heated black leather seats.

I paid $4300 for it. :D

Nice! That's a helluva price for a 97 GTP with less than 100k on the clock...

Looks good! When does the modding start? :D

Thanx guys. Well, the modding will start when I am out of school for the summer. I did, however, put MSD wires on it along with a complete tune up. Plugs/wires, PCV, fuel filter, Synthetic oil change, top engine cleaner. Also, I bought a set of Goodyear Alliance Tripple Treads from Belle. Talk about a nice ride !!!

What would you suggest as first mods?

CAI
U-bend and resonater delete w/ highflo cat
PCM

????

Thanx in advance

all of the above with smaller pulley, then headers then call the guys at intense for serious mods

intense or the better place would be zzperformance. You'll definately want to upgrade your computer. Nice upgrade

As far as the PCM goes, would you guys recomment the $100 Intense one, or the $215 DHP one?

The Intense one is a la carte, so in the end it might be just as expensive, but I know they don't use the exact same data between brands.

And would a PCM be a good first mod, even with no supporting mods?

I wouldn't do the PCM 1st...start with either your intake or exhaust. Also I'd recommend the DHP over intense.

all of the above with smaller pulley, then headers then call the guys at intense for serious mods Guess you aren't on clubgp much eh? (not that that is a bad thing ) Intense fucking sucks! Won't back their products when they cause failure etc...

I would start with a fenderwell intake or a wizaired intake. Then u-bend/res and maybe 3" downpipe if you can. Next 3.4 pulley and DHP PCM. Then rockers .....

BTW: I would really look into a scanner as a first or second mod. (wish I did)

ZZP is a great place to shop!

Thanx guys. Hopefully I will get some better pics once the snow stops. I did't buy it from a friend, but it was a local pickup. Actually, a guy was sellin it about 1 mile from my house. He was asking $5000 for it, and I talked him down to $4300 (due to needign tires, headlight, tune-up). For the $$ I think its an awesome car.

Congrats, nice GTP! BTW, you might want to measure that sc pulley...it might not be the stock 3.8'' pulley(hence the Auto Specialities Performance sticker up front.).

Good call. Wasn't te stock size 3.8"? I have already removed that sticker

Yep, stock is 3.8''...should be roughly 3 13/16''(slightly larger actually..but that measurement should put you close enough to discern whether or not it's stock or a smaller aftermarket pulley).

werd

first thing first, bring it to the track and see if its a freak :)

buddy here at the local club ran 14.1 bone stock in his 97, and hes down to 13.5 with light mods.

also, a PCM is a PCM. Im happy with my Intense, but seems everyone says DHP is soooooooo much better, but they have as many problems with their PCMs as any other company out there.

Id go with Intake, then smaller pulley before a PCM. And yes, a scan tool would be nice too :) you should get one of these. it isnt a scan tool per se, but it could help a bit (personally, im going for KR and prolly LTFT, but the gauge can scan a lot of stuff)

http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26967

you can select 2 out of 22 or 24 parameters (boost, KR, tranny temp, LTFT, stuff like that :))

hop on the group buy at clubgp.

and congrats on the new car :D

Drew

Yep, stock is 3.8''...should be roughly 3 3/16''(slightly larger actually..but that measurement should put you close enough to discern whether or not it's stock or a smaller aftermarket pulley).

umm, correct me if im wrong, but 3.8 = 3 and 8/10 ~ 3 and 4/5 ~ 3 and 12.8/16

3/16 is .1875, which is a 3.2 pulley, and if you are running that, take that shit off now!

Not to stir the shit but the DHP is MUCH better tune then the Intense! Would probably be better off just buying a powertuner or hptuner though.

john99gtp
03-15-2005, 09:15 AM
go with hptuner suite, that way you can change ANYTHING you want :)

i can change my PCM around using hptuners, but if you get a DHP, its locked, so you cant change anything, so you might wanna keep your stock PCM if your going that far.

I think its when using the hptuners software is when its locked. And as far as I know you can change more stuff around with the powertuner.

john99gtp
03-15-2005, 09:25 AM
well it makes sense that dhp wouldnt lock their own pcms for their own tuning software.

but that makes unfair, cause you cant use another software like hptuners

dan, buy that gauge :P

I just went out and measured the pulley. From the outside diameter its roughly 3.75" , which is about 3.8", so I would say its the stock pulley on there. Or, is the size measured from the tracks on the inside of it?

I was just trying to see if it is in fact a regular pulley, but i guess it doesnt matter :)

3.4 vs 3.8
