More later, I just don't feel like talking about it now, it wasn't my fault but I'm still fucked.

Fucker still goes down the road straight as an arrow, the mechanicals are all ok. The unibody is what worrys me. Full story after work.

Exactly why I bought a W-Body, and until I can afford something more expensive, will buy them. I've been in two seperate accidents in my old Grand Prix LE, and I had a lady rearend me in the new SE, no damage with that one. My old LE held up and still drove just fine even after rearending a semi.

Fucking tanks these things are.

:( ouch.. yeah I just saw those pics you took and when you got stuck taking them.. hopefully you can get it all worked out.
Hows the Suburban damage? My dad has totalled off a early 90s bonneville with our old Suburban and just had to put a new bumper on and fix up the lower left fender..tore a hole right through the bonneville between the right front and back doors(guy cut him off and a cop saw the whole thing, my dad didn't pay a cent..)

I really hope your Cutty isn't totally off.. glad your okay though.

OK, here's the deal. I was on my way back to town for the week, about 8.00PM. I was following this POS 80's monte carlo SS, about 75. He eventually took off, about 80 I suppose, but I kept at my pace. I come up to a dip in the road and the monte is on the right shoulder, with his left blinker on. I slow down because of the deer that are usually around, and get into the left lane (split 4 lane highway). As soon as I get into the left lane a suburban that had been sitting in the median waiting for me to go went. I didn't see that since i momentarily looked at the monte to see if it had hit a deer or anything. I look back and there's a suburban doing about 15-20 a couple carlengths ahead of me. I jerk it back to the right and didn't quite make it. Cop ruled it as no fault, and since I don't have full coverage I'm screwed. Even if she would have been found at fault, what would have happened? What's an '89 Cutlass with 174000 miles worth, maybe $1000? After maybe buying the car back I'd still be pretty well boned. I'm not done with this yet, I'm going to see if there's any way I can get it covered, but I'm not too optomistic. The unibody is pushed down about 2-3" on the drivers side, and inward as well, I'd say about 1". The battery took a pretty good hit and is up against the WAI. At the moment I am planning to fix it, unless after I peel the fender off I find some catastrophic damage. The braces from the front rad support to the strut tower really held stuff together well, glad it was on there. The rad support from the brace to the right side is straight as far as I can tell. With some creative pulling, jerking, cursing, torching, it can be rebuilt, better, stronger, faster than before. I've already got an extra headlight, headlight and grill mounting fiberglass bracket, and a semi-straight hood and fender for alignment purposes. All I need is a bumper cover, fender, hood, intl. series wheel opening moulding, and probably some odds and ends. Fucking G bodies, I'm glad she hit a deer, but I guess I got the shitty end of the stick.

Find out where she lives, and squirt a whole bottle of "Doe-In-Heat" down the cowl vent at the base of the windshield of her truck. That'll teach the bitch.

That truely SUCKS!
Same thing happened to me with my first car, got hit in an exit to a mall parking lot by some bitch going way to fast. It was claimed as not fault, so I was screwed. Her insurance gave me the runaround for a month. We ended up suing the lady, but didn't end up getting anything because the phone conversation with the insurance company manuscript wasn't valid evidence in small claims court since it was pre-made, and the insurance lady who made the document wasn't present in court. The lady admitted it was her fault on that phone conversation, but we couldn't use it. She was driving w/o a license, and I was the one that got fucked! She didn't even get a ticket. What a world we live in!
Good luck, but be prepared for the worst. :x
I hope you can get it back the way it was, too many of us are trading in for 97+ GTPs.

wow, I am sorry. you had just gotten her lookin' good...

Justin
02-04-2005, 12:12 PM
Yeah, I'm in the runaround portion if the whole mess now... I'll fix it, the corner might not be as structurally sound, but it'll hold a fender and hood. As for trading up for a newer GP, I'm actually thinking maybe I'll get a 2000+ Monte Carlo, maybe after I turn 25 and the insurance goes down.

Got a call from the police officer that responded to the accident, he told me that he gave her a warning for failure to yield. Sounds like the Cutty will roll again, I'll total it out, buy it back, and fix her up. Talked to a guy that does some body sidework, and he told me that he'd straighten it out on his 40 ton frame rack, he's done many of them and said that it would be an easy pull. Plus, he's got an '89 Cutlass for parts at his place, so I'll be able to get everything except the bumper cover there, and there is a local junkyard that has an Intl series with a good front bumper (I think). Same car I got the hood off of. Went to the scene again today to take some pics, kind of sad to see parts of headlight and turn signal marker strewn around, reminded me of the end of Back to the Future III, when the delorean was wrecked. Probably have the pics up mon or tues night.

ohhhh man that sucks, I'm sorry to see that happen to such a nice car, I can tell from just looking at it that your unibody is tweaked, but that's what frame machines are for.... :)

Yeah, W-Bodys are like fucking road trains when it comes to accidents. just check out page 2 of my cardomain site... (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/358846/2)

I saw this wrecked Z on eBay, he must have been playing chicken with a train or something and didnt realize trains are on tracks to do this much damage....

man sorry to hear that. Glad there's no injuries. Let me tell ya, these ars are tanks though. Sunday got hit in a 97 Lumina when a guy ran a stop sign and clipped the rearend. ended up in a snowfilled field. After the tow truck pulled the car out of the field, still drove it home. haha.. just goes to show ya these good ol' W-body's rule.

At least now it's driveable, the gas prices are getting kind of rediculous to be driving around in either a jacked up Jeep or a Corvette. I'll park the Jeep until the weather turns cold, then trade the Vette in for it again. The fender, hood and bumper aren't perfect by any means, but it's functional. I'll buy some more spray paint primer and hit the fender, bumper and rest of the hood for now, at least until winter.
