hello
i am wondering on the back brakes of a lumina z34 are there and special tools needed to change the pads. my dad insists u need special tools?

the special tool is to push in the caliper, it actually twists in not pushes like many others, this is due to the ratchiting e brake. I forget which way but one goes clockwise and the other counter clockwise. Almost all local auto parts stores should have the tool. At the parst store by me i can even rent the tool that GM made to R & R pads. Hope this helps some

is it possible to do it without the tool? or do u need that one

it is possible to hack it with pliers to turn it in, but get the 4 dollar tool, and the torx bit u need also

yea i just changed my front pads and only thing i needed special was a T60 socket

the fronts just push in, the rear brakes turn in

you only need the T-60 to change the rotor, socket only for pads.

well, to push in the pistons on the calipers, i use c-clamps........works good fer me :D
