well my first experince at a track of anysort very dissapointed in myself :(
got 4 runs in in 1/8 mile untimed raceing

first run 90ish Cavy z24 (2.8, 5 speed) beat on him prety bad, got a decent launch

second run 92 Lumina z34 (3.4 auto) got a so-so launch, she won by about a car leigth

third run 9x neon, (2.0 ohc, 5 speed) i totally messed up the launch and he got a huge head start i lost

fourth run ford windstar (3.8 auto) finally perfected the art of launching, it was a slaughterfest

i'm majorly disapointed in myself, oh well i supose its not bad for the first time i ever drag raced however i'm wondering how bad these "lord knows how many mile" plugs are holding me back, ah well its time for a tune up anyhow.

Untimed?? And what's up with people (dragstrips) only running 1/8th mile on the strip?? That sounds like a lame ass track to me. I've only ran 1/4 and I don't see how 1/8th can be all that much fun.

A lot of dragstrips are only an 1/8th of a mile long...I have a 1/8th and a 1/4 mile track close to me. 8)

I think my 87 6000 could have seemingly perfected the launch against this one! My 3.1 hauls ass on my gf's mom's 98 3.8 Windstar!

Safety...with some of the things people are doing to cars these days, the speeds at 1/4 mile can get absolutely uncontrollable... I just had a discussion with one of my fellow Auto Trader employees about this today...he's the rep in charge of Old Car Trader nationally here in Canada, and i'm just one of a few Auto Trader reps in S/W ontario...we had an interesting conversation...theres an astro van that has 2200hp (NOT A TYPO..2200) and runs 6s in the quarter mile...just to name one example...he also said something about a 67 Camaro that does 213MPH on the dragstrip. The 1/8th offers a decent measure without the chance to break into uncontrollable speeds.

Thats our take on it, anyhow

YK
